You and I both know that obesity is a major health problem all around the globe, but what is causing this? Well, it most certainly has something to do with the majority of the food being purchased being food with no nutritional value but combine this with over eating and you have the equation of disaster. To combat this extreme problem, below you will find some of the foods you need to avoid for weight loss and start your journey to a healthier life.
No Nutrition Foods?
When I say that a food does not have any nutrition, I mean that it does not have any beneficial components. Eating a balanced diet will combine proteins, clean carbs, good fats, and of course your vitamins and minerals. With a no nutrition food, the only thing you are getting is just straight up calories with no benefit and are probably packed full of sugars and bad fats.
These foods are incredibly easy to make and distribute at a very low price. That is why so many people are buying and consuming these products. They are also a bit cheaper (or so you may feel) than healthier alternatives, and families are eating this junk by the mouthful which is leading to the problem the world is facing today.
You need to avoid these foods at all cost. Get them out of your house and do not feed them to your children. These types of foods will contribute greatly to weight gain, diseases, and a shorter life span.
Take control of your own life by learning how to read nutrition labels. Try and stay away from processed food and buy foods that are fresh, such as fruit and vegetables. If you cook your meals at home with non processed ingredients (natural foods) and make sure to not overeat, you can easily maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The overeating part here is VERY important. You could eat healthy foods, but still be incredibly overweight. Have you ever seen a fat Vegan and wonder what they could possibly be doing wrong? Over eating! Simple as that.
Below, I outline some of the foods that are consumed on a daily basis everywhere that you should avoid if you are on the fitness path and or looking for foods to avoid for weight loss.
Sugary Sweets
Sorry to break it to you, but all sweets are sugary, so this includes all of them. There is nothing good that can be gained from eating sweets. All you get are bad carbs, fat, and a ton of sugar. Many times, lots of the ingredients have been processed.
This is not to say you can not enjoy a sweet in moderation, but if you are looking to lose weight, just avoid them all together. Willpower! You can do it.
Candy: Candy is cheap, has artificial ingredients, and is almost completely made from sugar. If you have kids, keep them away from the candy! Sugar is addicting, and this is one of the main issues we face when we see obese kids walking around.
Ice Cream: Everyone loves ice cream, myself included! But, if you are looking to lose some weight, avoid ice cream because it just has sugar, some coloring, and then artificial flavors. If you are looking for a healthier alternative, simply free your fruit and enjoy that. It is sweet, cold, and a lot better for you than a tub of ice cream (because I know you eat the entire tub!).

Cookies: This goes for almost any type of sweet like a cookie. They are made from butter, sugar, and flour. You and I both know this because we have probably made them at some point in our life. None of these ingredients are any good for you. If you want to avoid some foods to lose weight, these would be the ones. They just have a ton of carbs which spikes your blood sugar, and give you bad trans fat.
If you simply must have a cake, which you really do not because you have more will power than that, you can change the flour to whole grain flower to attempt to make it a little more healthy. I say a little more healthy but do not convince yourself that this is healthy in any way, it is and will never be a good choice to eat cookies or cake if you want to shed some fat.
Drinks That Are Not Water
If food can be considered a food, many of them should be avoided if you wish to lose weight. Much of what you will buy is nothing but flavorings, and sugar. A lot of artificial ingredients go into drinks to give it that desired taste and to keep cost down. Here are a few that you should never put into your body.
Soda: There are countless stories of people who have completely changed their lives and dropped tens or even a hundred pounds simply from cutting soda out of their diet. These drinks are packed full of sugar and are just empty calories. I really like this info-graphic that explains how bad soda is for you.
Sweet Tea: If you are from the south, chances are you drink a lot of sweet tea. I will not disagree that tea is simply delicious, but you really need to avoid it. Tea by itself is incredibly healthy, but pair it with all the sugar you are dumping into it and your drink becomes a hazardous treat. This includes any of the tea you will buy prepackaged at the store. Avoid sweetened teas to lose weight.
Juice/Smoothies: If you want to drop a few pounds do yourself a favor and stop buying juice at the store. Fruit juice is incredibly sweet by itself, but big companies have taken it upon themselves to add even more sugar to these drinks. They do not have much fiber, vitamins, or minerals and are again, just empty calories. You would be 100% better of drinking a glass of water. The same goes for smoothies. If you want a smoothie, make it from fresh veggies and fruit at home and do not add any sugar to it.
Fancy Coffee: I love nothing more than a cup or 12 of black coffee when I first wake up. It helps me get going, tastes great, and really adds to my day in a beneficial way. Black coffee is NOT what I am talking about here. I am discussing drinks such as Lattes and Cappuccinos you may buy at a coffee shop such as Starbucks.
Stay away from these at all costs. They are full of terrible carbs, are packed up with fattening creams, and artificial flavorings.
Avoid drinking almost anything that has additional calories added and stay away from the sugar, carb, and fat overloaded drinks. If you want to lose weight or get in better shape, just do yourself a favor and start drinking water every time you are thirsty. Water has a whopping ZERO calories and there are just so many benefits of drinking more water.
Many Different Snacks
There is a good way to snack, and a bad way. I know you know what I am talking about. Having a few almonds is a great way to get some healthy fats and maybe a little bit of a salty crunch. That is not what we are talking about here. We are talking about the snacks that have nothing to add to your daily nutrition except empty calories, bad carbs, loads of salt, and an extra helping of fat.
Popcorn: Everyone enjoys popcorn, myself included. Popcorn is actually pretty decent for you. The problem lies when you and everyone else you know tops it with butter turning it into a food you need to avoid if you want to lose weight. If you really want that light salty crunch, try out kale chips!
Chips: Chips can be the bane of my existence. I love them, and you probably do as well. If I start eating them, 10 minutes later the bag is empty and I have taken in over 1000 calories for no good reason. It is simply best to avoid these and never eat them. They are terrible for you. Full of carbs, fats, incredible amounts of salt, and preservatives, nothing good will come from eating chips.
When it comes down to it, basically every item that is sold as a snack food is going to be unhealthy for you. Get them out of your house and do not eat them. If you want a healthy snack, try eating small amounts of fruits or veggies. You can try and make kale chips, or perhaps make your own chic pea popcorn. The sky is the limit as long as you avoid unnecessary unhealthy carbs, fats and sugars.

Foods To Avoid You Think Are Healthy
A lot of the food people are eating they think is actually healthy for them when in reality they could not be further from the truth. Two of these foods are…
Salad Dressing: Much of the salad dressing out there is very bad for you. While eating a salad is typically extremely good for your diet (if you make it yourself and do not eat it at McDonalds) putting a massive topping of salad dressing on top could be your downfall. These store bought dressing have added sugar and lots of trans fat. Also, did you know the serving size is typically 2 tablespoons? You are probably adding 5-8 servings on your salad without even knowing it.
If you want to make a healthy alternative, use some olive oil and mix it with a tasty vinegar and drizzle that on top!
Cereal: Everyone thinks their cereal is healthy for some reason. Families buy it for their kids of college students buy it for themselves (I was guilty of this as well). These are not healthy for you at all. They have a very large amount of added sugar. For breakfast, try eating a hard boiled egg or if you are crunched for time, perhaps a protein shake.
Wrapping It Up
This is only a very short list of some of the foods you need to avoid if you want to lose weight. Even if you just want to start eating a bit better, you need to check out the nutritional labels on the food you are buying to see what you are actually putting into your body.
I know it is hard to start eating better which is why I suggest you find these problem foods and get them out of your house. There are many others that I did not list here but now you know what to look out for. Start eating a healthy diet and eat natural non processed foods and you are well on your way to being healthier than 90% of the population that eats whatever they want without thinking about it. All the best and good luck!
