Detailed Review:
You can purchase the Montague Boston online through any authorised dealer. Make sure that you are purchasing the Boston and not the Boston 8 as the following review will not stand true for the Boston 8 which has 8 speeds.
If you purchase from Amazon online store and receive some discount on the item. With Amazon, you should receive your product within a week with standard shipping or under 3 days with Amazon Prime shipping.
The product arrives in the stock Montague box which is very durable and you should not expect any shipping damage to the Boston. Once you have taken out the bike out of the box and assembled it, it is essential that you take it to your nearest authorised bike mechanic to go through the assembly, tune it and make the necessary adjustments if required. This is needed to activate your Montague manufacturer’s warranty otherwise it cannot be honoured.
The frame of the Boston is of top quality military grade aluminium. This is a standard set by Montague which sets its product apart from the competitors. The body is very strong and durable while having considerably less weight for a full size bike. Even though it feels stiff but there is nothing about it that feels unnecessarily overbuilt. The geometry allows for an advantageous riding position for journey in city environment.
The Boston comes with a single gear system which is somewhat in middle grounds when you consider a flat speed and a climbing speed. The bike will certainly climb steep inclines but can get slower than its usual speed. With no additional gears, the bike gets a very clean image which can be another attractive feature for some of us.
The steering of the bike is pretty neutral and you are going to enjoy a smooth ride without any fuss.
The Promax brakes are not the best you are going to see on a foldable, but they do their job well.
The flip flop hub enables the rear wheel to operate in a free wheel or fixed gear set up.
Overall the riding experience is such that you will actually feel you are on a normal kind of mid-range hybrid machine and not really on a foldable, which of course is a big plus.
The rest of the components are also very dependable with SR Sun Tour cranks, Alex Rims with Formula hubs and some unbranded stock bits.
When it comes to folding there is no company even close to Montague’s patented FIT technology which together with the Clix system (another patented mechanism by Montague) makes sure your bike is in a compact shape in less than a quarter of a minute. Early on it might take some time to grow into the process of folding the bike but still it won’t take more than a minute to get the bike in your arms and carry it around. The folding happens by rotating the seat post and dropping the seat. While it is not the same small size like that of a Brompton due to its full size, the reduction in overall shape is commendable and it will easily fit in your cupboard or car trunk. A bungee string or a strap will be great to wrap around the bike and keep it in its shape. You should definitely think about getting a carryon bag for the Boston if you plan on taking it around the town. The company offers some great looking and comfortable bags which are worth checking out. If you are short on budget you can get a third party bag too, however make sure that your bike fits in.
While there are not many downsides to a bike so good for such a low price, however there are several parts which can be upgraded. Of course it is understandable that a lot of the price you paid went towards the patented technology of Montague.

You are definitely not going to win races on it nor make it through the California trails, but if you are using it on smooth asphalt you are in for a very enjoyable experience.
