Detailed Review:
The Prodeco can be ordered online through Amazon. It comes in a well padded company stock box. Inside the box, the X2 is mostly assembled from the factory and all you need to do is make adjustments to the brake settings and tune some nuts / bolts so that the bike components are not too stiff to use. A thorough look at the instruction manual will let you know all you need to know. If you are still in doubts or if this is your first bike, you should get the bike reviewed by a professional mechanic to be completely on the safe side.
As mentioned before, the electric X2 is made in America which means that you can expect a great product of the top standard. And this is the case, as the X2 has a really solid body quality, with great aesthetics and all the components well installed and working seamlessly with each other. The aluminium body frame has been designed for a forward / urban usage in mind and is strong and durable. The bike is resistant to rust and you can expect the body to last a very long time.
Perhaps the most important feature of the electric bike is its engine. The X2 boasts a strong and reliable five hundred watts engine which is sufficient enough to keep you off peddling, if you don’t feel like it. The e-bike can ride as fast as 20 miles per hour on a busy street consistently, with a maximum speed of 25 miles per hour on flat surface, and can even beat your car if you utilise short cuts and sideways. You can easily cruise past pedestrians and fellow bikers, with them thinking you are on an ordinary bike. On a climb, the speed of the X2 drops by about ten miles per hour. However, the pedal assist will extend the speed range of this bike and allow you to really climb the hill, peddling as hard as you want, very easily. The engine is durable enough to endure rides along most terrains and is hard to beat on a smooth asphalt track. The best thing is, it can do all this without ever taking out an ugly squeak as the ride is very quiet.
The engine is supported by a LiFePO4 battery, which is not the top most battery but it still lasts very long, even after several multiple recharges. You will normally get 45 miles and more on a single charge, even when you ride the bike on hills. The expected life expectancy for the bike according to Prodeco is two thousand cycles.
The engine is not joined with the gear system, which means that you can initiate the ride with any gear even when the bike is completely turned off. For the newbies, using the back gear switch may feel a bit awkward due to its position on the left handle, however you get used to it after some time.
The Continental Traffic tires are twenty six inch each and are able to perform well in an urban environment. They rarely need to be inflated and can take in jerks from pot holes and bumps, while keeping you stable. The shock absorber is not that great, however you need to remember that having a shock absorber which takes in a lot of momentum would mean that the bike loses its energy which it could use to propel you forward.
The handlebar is made of alloy aluminium with integrated cartridge bearing. However, the shape of the handle bar can be annoying as it is curved and any thing you put on the bar will try to slip out.
Even though the X2 is a foldable bike, it is heavy in its nature and you will probably not find yourself folding it a lot. Since it is a large bike, even when it is folded the compact size is bulky and can be too large to fit in the trunk of some cars. To fold the bike you need to drop the front wheel at an angle to the back wheel. This is not the most convenient folding style and can leave you feeling awkward. The bike is not recommended to be lifted and carried for long distances, or in fact short either if you are not that strong.
If you are into installing racks on your bikes, then this is going to be a hard task to fulfil on the X2. Not that you cannot install a rack on it, but because of the battery on the rack you need to lift your seat a little and then slide the rack. This is not an official method, but it works and does not affect the bike in any way.
Note: Prodeco is developing a special rack for this ebike.
Probably the only issue in the bike is the pedal which is always sticking out even when folded and the plastic parts in the bike can get cracked on rough usage. The plastic should be replaced by metal parts as metal can take the high stress in a much better way.
There should also be preinstalled reflectors on the bike because of its matte black color, which can make the bike invisible on a dark street.
Since Prodeco develops its product in country, you can get all the replacement parts fresh and easily.
