If you are looking to stretch your dollar but also get in great shape, then the Schwinn 120 is a great buy for what you get. It is a cheaper version than the 140 but this is because it does not come with as many bells, whistles, and programs. Losing weight and staying in shape have never been so easy so continue reading below to find out a bit more about this fitness machine.
Putting It Together
Do you have putting together products that arrive at your door? I know I do! With the Schwinn 120, assembly is both quick and painless and you should not worry about this piece of fitness equipment taking you long at all.
There is of course a bit of assembly required. I would estimate about half an hour. The part I like though is that the instructions are excellent and step by step so you can follow along. Everything you need to put it together are included in the package and you will not need any tools around your house.
Built In Programs
The more expensive Schwinn bikes are going to come with more built in programs than the Schwinn 120 but if you want to get some programs to help you on your way, this bike has that. It comes with 10 programs which should be more than enough to kick start your fitness journey.
Out of the 10 different programs you get a variety of things to do. First you have a custom fitness test which will help assess where you are. You also get a quick start program and a results mode program. The results mode will really get you going and help you stay in shape, or shed the pounds fast. You will also get 6 different profiles to keep things new and fun.
Resistance
This bike comes with a lot of different resistance levels which are hard to find on other bikes. You will be able to challenge yourself at almost fitness level when you purchase the 120. Other bikes typically have a knob or level to change the resistance. With the Schwinn 120, all you need to do is press a button! How great is that?
Flywheel
The flywheel is responsible for how the bike will feel when you are pedaling it. This one weighs in at abut 13.2 pounds. This is average for bikes in this range. With this weight, you will notice that the bike pedals smoothly and will not move around like cheaper units when you are riding it.
A smooth pedaling experience and a bike that stays in place when riding, what else could you ask for!
Computer System
My favorite component of any spin bike is what kind of statistics it will show me during my workout. This one will show you the resistance, the profile course you have selected, how many calories burned, your speed, your distance, what kind of watts you are putting out, what kind of track time you are keeping, RPM of the pedals, and your interval time. You will hard pressed to find this many options with a similar unit.
This spin bike also comes with a heart rate monitor that is built into the hand grip. On each side there are handlebars which have hand grip heart rate readers. The Schwinn really wins with this as these are not always included on lower end models.
Comfort
One of the best successes of the Schwinn 120 is how comfortable it is to ride. The seat can be adjusted backwards as well as forward (of course you can also move it up and down). In total there are 10 levels for adjustment. This will let you get the correct position for you no matter what size you are. I am rather short so being able to adjust it properly to my size is crucial to getting in longer workouts where seat positioning can have a lot to do with how far you are able to push yourself.
The pedals are also great because of how big they are. They ensure you will not be slipping and are designed so that you will have hardly impact at all on your knees and joints. If you are trying to get into shape but want something incredibly low impact, this 120 is perfect for that.
Aside from comfort, you can also read a book while cycling because it comes with a reading rack and stay cool in the process with the fan that comes in 2 speeds. If you would rather jam out to some music while you are pedaling, it comes with some speakers so you can listen to them that way or plug in some headphones which is my personal favorite.
Transportation
This spin bike comes with transport wheels that you can put on the bottom of the unit and move it around where you like. This makes storage very simple.
Warranty
The Schwinn 120 comes with an awesome warranty of 5 years frame, 1 year parts, and 3 months for wear on parts. This is one of the best warranties we have seen.
Size
The dimensions of this 80 pound bike are 42 X 21 X 52 inches.
Real User Reviews of the Schwinn 120
Since it came to market, the Schwinn 120 has really been getting a lot of happy customers. People on Amazon are saying that when in use, it is extremely quiet and the construction quality is great. There really isn’t anyone complaining of broken parts. I guess that is why they make their warranty so long because they know they are making quality equipment.
Other people would like a better computer display but I really like what they provide. It is almost impossible to find all the features that this bike has on another unit for the same price so I do not think this is a valid complaint.
Conclusion
If you were to only have so much money and are looking to spend some on a piece of equipment that is a high contender in the budget cycling equipment category, you need to see the Schwinn 120. There is a reason that Schwinn is a house hold name for cyclists!
