The Difference Between The Two
As you know, the circular trampoline is the most popular being sold. However, the difference between a round and rectangular unit is how the springs work. Lets talk the round one as an example first. When you are bouncing around on a circular design, you typically will jump right in the middle. This is because this is where the most give in the material is. All the springs activate at once and this controls how high you are able to jump because naturally you will be bouncing around in the same spot (near the center of the trampoline).
Now take a rectangle trampoline and you can see how the pattern is about to change. The bouncing around is no longer controlled as much. How? Well, since it has an oblong shape, wherever you bounce the springs are going to either activate fully, or not as much as the others. This will let you or others get maximum bouncyness out of almost any part of the trampoline. More room to play, more fun right?

If you think about it, a rounded platform gives you support the entire way around and is usually very sturdy. When you get into a rectangle trampoline, you will not have as much support for the longer sides. Because of this, you have to ensure the product you buy is made out of the hardest metals out there to make sure safety is up to par.
Another thing you need to look at while thinking about making a purchase is how many different support legs it comes with. Some of the rectangle tramps are going to have four legs while others will have more. Sometimes there will be less and this is all going to be up to personal choice of what you think is best for your backyard.
There are a few models that have 1 leg on each end of the trampoline. IF this is the case, check to see if it is braced underneath. Is it? Awesome, it is a quality unit. If not, you will want to look for another option because these are a lot less safe than other rectangular trampolines.

Safety First
Before I get into the reviews though, lets talk a little bit about safety when it comes to jumping around.
First and formost, make sure the nets are in place and secure on the side when you are setting yours up. Once this in place, I would recommend that you only let a single person in and jumping around at a time. If there is more than one person, they could get a little too crazy and end up bashing into the support of nets. This is why they are there, but you always want to be safer than sorry.
If your rectangle trampoline does not come with a net, this is a MUST. You have to get one. This will keep you or anyone who uses the machine from breaking an arm, a leg, or worse, getting a head injury. Always make sure to make safety first!

One of my favorite trampolines when it comes to being safe but also a great stable platform for anyone jumping around on it. It is made out of galvanized steel and each of the T sockets has been reinforced. These sockets are a really big deal because after you own the unit for a few years, it will still be straight as day and no twists in the frame.
It also comes with a very sturdy net that attaches to the base with button holes and V rings. This serves the purpose of making it stand the test of time but also means that no small people (kids) are going to slide out of the bottom if they get out of control.
The pad of this unit is great. Super stretchy and thick (1 inch) means it will not need replaced for a long time. I also like that they took the pad and protected it from the sun. The reviews on this rectangle trampoline are very positive and the only bad reviews that I read said that it came a bit damaged but this is the fault of the mailman, not the company. I would seriously consider getting this one!
Upper Bounce Rectangle Trampoline With Net
From the trampolines listed above, this one is the highest rated and also the one I would suggest picking up if you are an adult. It quickly goes together and looks great!
I say it goes quickly together because with this one, you will not need any special tools to put it up and use it. The Upper Bounce comes with a net that is attached to something called Flex Poles. This helps the net stay upright and means it will not sag down over time as many other units have shown to do.

Finally we have the rectangle trampoline by summit. This is one of my favorites here. It is made out of galvanized steel and has a 4 corner design as you can see by the picture. The legs are also made out of galvanized steel for extra stability.
The brackets of this tramp are the same T brackets found in other units and these are especially a good thing to keep the unit from twisting over time.
The mat is high quality polypropylene that stands the test of time against the UV rays that the sun is emitting.
When it comes to the net, you can see that it circles the entire unit and attaches to the poles which there are eight of.
It has been found that putting this together is a bit more difficult than other products on the market but the durability of this speaks for itself. It may take a bit longer to put up and enjoy, but once it is up, you can be sure it will provide safe and sturdy fun almost year round.
